This page contains a fairly complete discography and where music can be purchased for all the recordings I have performed on and many that I produced. This includes my musical performing groups of Exude and NC-17, my Frank Rogala Solo projects and TwinkleU. I've also included the background stories (some quite extensive) behind the recordings. Although I do many things, this page is specifically about my professional musical career, bands and recordings. Videos will be referenced, but more information about those will be posted in the Film and Video area of this site.
Exude Recordings
Exude was formed during a frigid winter in Mackinaw City Michigan in 1978. I was fascinated with the advent of electronic instruments and I knew it was a whole new world. At that time it was possible to buy "Heath Kit" synthesizers that would come in parts with the manual and instructions that would tell you how to assemble them. These are the same type of kits that Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs played with before they built the first Apple computer. My brother Vince was in the band and he played saxophone in the high school marching band, innovative keyboard. We played around with fiberglass molds and made our own guitar shaped keyboard, before anything like that was out on the market. The only problem was our model weighed about 35 to 40 pounds and was a hefty load to carry on a strap around your neck. We also tried to make an entire drum kit out of Synare electronic drums. Each one was a synthesizer that you could make sound differently. (more)
3340 In The Garage by Exude
3340 In The Garage was produced as a cassette only and sold at the band’s shows to their fans and friends. These are rare and are only available a few places online. At some point in the future I may locate the original master for this recording, have it digitally mastered and make it available online. 3340 In The Garage refers to the model of the 4 track reel to reel Tascam recorder that the album was recorded on. These tape recorders were among the first semi pro quality tape machines widely adopted by musicians for their own personal recording studios. When I get a chance to track down a copy and listen I will be able to fill out the names of the musicians who played on this recording.

Live at Club 5902 by NC-17
Artwork Coming Soon
Live at Club 5902 was recorded during a live performance of NC-17 at now-defunct Club 5902 in Huntington Beach, California. Now, featuring Ron Perron on Bass and Chuck Hohn on drums, NC-17 could move beyond the studio and play live. Video recordings of that performance eventually led to a full-length feature documentary "Won't Anybody Listen." Recorded on not only the equipment the band had, but whatever they could borrow from friends, the slapdash set up ended up working quite well. Copies of this album are extremely rare. The original purpose of this album was to introduce NC-17's new electric violinist, Robert Aviles. Having just spent two years recording The Happiest Place on Earth, the band was loath to enter the studio again, but was anxious to show off the amazing addition that Robert's violin made to their sound. Recordings from this show can be heard in the film "Won't Anybody Listen."

Boys Just want To Have Sex - "1999 Remixes" by Frank Rogala
Boys Just Want To Have Sex - "1999 Remixes" were created in response to a request from PowderWorks Media of Australia. Playing with samples of Bill Clinton's famous public "I have sinned" admission of guilt in the Monica Lewinsky matter, Frank re-sang the vocals and created a dark electronic reimagining of the song. Also experimenting with rootsy acoustic sounds, Frank sampled Nick Pyzow's dobro and slide guitar for the original "That Boy Just Wants" song. Rogala designed the cover playing off of the famous evolution-of-man illustrations. Illustration and touchup of final artwork by John Barrick.
