{"id":16,"date":"2007-10-19T21:50:59","date_gmt":"2007-10-19T21:50:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/frankrogala.com\/blog\/?p=16"},"modified":"2013-10-18T16:04:54","modified_gmt":"2013-10-18T16:04:54","slug":"federal-airport-security-vs-my-sirus-s-50-remote-control","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/frankrogala.com\/blog\/federal-airport-security-vs-my-sirus-s-50-remote-control\/","title":{"rendered":"Federal Airport Security vs. my Sirus S-50 Remote Control"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\r\n\r\nI have recently heard that Federal Airport Security has started to prevent passengers from boarding a plane with toy remote control devices.\u00a0 Understandable!\u00a0 Whose to say what that remote could trigger in the luggage department or wherever.\u00a0 I don't want to take that chance \u2013 tell Junior to stow it in a suitcase -\u00a0 he can play when he get's to grandma's.\r\n\r\nHowever, I believe that overzealous security officers have removed remote devices from my stowed luggage!\u00a0 Twice!\r\n\r\nI travel a lot and I always take my Sirius S-50 with me.\u00a0 Last month when I got home I could not find the Sirius S-50 remote when I unpacked.\u00a0 Now it is a small device, however, I pack everything very carefully.\u00a0 I put small electronic items in small boxes, wrapped in paper or plastic bags and label them.\u00a0 I travel so much that I have a definite system.\u00a0 I even separate the S-50 from its base and wrap it separately.\r\n\r\nThinking the only explanation was that I had left the device at my cabin, I bought another.\u00a0 This month I had to travel again.\u00a0 I packed the replacement S-50 remote as I had before and when I arrived and unpacked ...it was missing again!\u00a0 On top of that, when I reached my cabin, after searching it from top to bottom I concluded that I actually had, as I remembered, packed the first S-50 remote.\r\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-38 aligncenter\" title=\"Federal Airport Security vs. my Sirus S-50 Remote Control\" alt=\"Sirus S-50 Remote Control\" src=\"https:\/\/frankrogala.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/10\/6a00c225280cea604a00e398b49d680002.jpg\" width=\"90\" height=\"90\" \/><\/p>\r\nI have no problem with complying with policies that are in place to protect my safety, however, I know of no policy that prohibits packing remote control's in luggage.\u00a0 I would think if this was some kind of an issue a reasonable alternative would be to ask passengers to separate the batteries from the device.\u00a0 But hey, I am not one to argue if I am asked not to travel without any remote at all.\u00a0 Just let me know \u2013 don't just take my property.\r\n\r\nPerhaps there are officers who misunderstood the new \u201cremote\u201d directive?\u00a0 If so, could someone PLEASE explain to our fine officers that a stowed remote can't be touched, and thus cannot trigger anything.\r\nI can assure you the most trouble my stowed S-50 Remote could cause would be to\u00a0 flip on a stored Howard Stern episode, but then a little lesbian dial a date never hurt anyone!\r\n\r\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p class=\"excerpt\">I have recently heard that Federal Airport Security has started to prevent passengers from boarding a plane with toy remote control devices.\u00a0 Understandable!\u00a0 Whose to say what that remote could trigger in the luggage department or wherever.\u00a0 I don't want to take that chance \u2013 tell Junior to stow it in a suitcase -\u00a0 he&hellip;<\/p><p class=\"more-link-p\"><a class=\"more-link\" href=\"https:\/\/frankrogala.com\/blog\/federal-airport-security-vs-my-sirus-s-50-remote-control\/\">Read more &rarr;<\/a><\/p>","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[154,149],"tags":[67,102,106,103,104,105],"class_list":["post-16","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-government","category-travel","tag-federal-airport-security","tag-howard-stern","tag-missing-from-luggage-airport-security-search","tag-remote-control","tag-remote-control-toys","tag-taken-from-luggage-by-securty"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.4 -
